Autumn in Estonia. Six people, six solitudes blend with the monotonous architecture of the Soviet era.

Mati, a young writer, stalks his ex-wife as she attempts desperate advances to other women. Augusti is a barber who lives a sad bachelor life and whose attentions to a child are misunderstood. Laura is a sentimental single mother who has lost all ability to trust others following the violent relationship with her alcoholic ex-husband and who rejects the advances of other incapable men. Maurer is an architect concerned with the well-being of humanity, but distant from his wife Ulvi, who in turn seeks comfort in the arms of a wardrobe keeper named Theo, a man who has some success with women, but who is not taken. seriously because of his low social status.

The film tells some moments taken from their stories, set in a world where it is still possible to laugh even if the hope is now evanescent.

Autumn ball won the Orizzonti Award at the 64th edition of the Venice International Film Festival, as well as having received numerous nominations and official awards in various international festivals.
