Guided Tour of the Museum

The visit allows you to retrace the twentieth century by identifying the main lines of artistic development of the twentieth century, with a strongly interdisciplinary approach and specific attention to Italy and Florence. A particular focus will be dedicated to the precious Alberto Della Ragione Collection, which includes great artistic masterpieces and which allows us to read in the background the main historical events of the years between the two wars. The visit will then continue in the rooms dedicated to the temporary exhibitions in progress, between the ground floor and the second floor, changing aspect and depth from time to time and thus becoming the way to delve into the multiplicity and views of the arts of the twentieth century, characterized by the plurality of languages and research.
The visits are not held on Thursdays, closing day of the museum.

      Art as an illusion

The activity leads children to learn about the work of the three protagonists of the current exhibitions thanks to a path chosen on some works, which allows them to grasp the plurality of languages, forms and techniques aimed at investigating the artistic representation of the world. Afterwards, the older participants will be involved in an atelier that will intertwine painting and narration, exploring the possible ways of restitution and interpretation of reality in a not only pictorial but also textual key; the smaller participants will be able to give life to their own personal work inspired by the paintings of De Pisis and extraordinarily fragrant.

        Gesture of painting

Painting is not just the representation of something recognizable and legible. During the twentieth century, many artists went beyond the frontiers of figuration to venture into the world of the abstract. Through a short journey within the collection of the Museo Novecento, children will be invited to confront these two great concepts that are identified in different ways of painting but also of looking at the world. Among the many types of approaches, children will discover what it means to express their emotions with informal painting, well represented in the museum by the Plurimo work of the artist Emilio Vedova. They will also look for the differences between the way of working of this artist and the American Jackson Pollock, creator of the “dripping” technique and leader of the abstract expressionism movement. Painting standing up, dancing around the canvas, dripping paint to the rhythm of jazz are the cornerstones of his technique that the children will then have the opportunity to experience through a laboratory activity where color, emotions and music will merge into a single experience.
