Alzheimer Fest 2022 lands in the Florentine civic museums: Three days of appointments and special visits by MUS.E
From 9 to 11 September guided tours for people with Alzheimer’s and cognitive impairment at the Novecento Museum, Palazzo Vecchio Museum, Stefano Bardini Museum and MAD Murate Art District
Museo Novecento, Palazzo Vecchio Museum, Stefano Bardini Museum and MAD Murate Art District, these are the three places at the center of the offer curated by MUS, and as part of Alzheimer Fest 2022, the festival that takes place throughout Tuscany from 9 to 11 September and is organized with the collaboration and sponsorship of the Tuscany Region, the Municipality of Florence, the Istituto degli Innocenti and with the partnership of Aima Firenze, the Caritas Foundation, Anci Toscana, Misericordia di Firenze.
On 9 September at 3 pm space for Noi del Novecento, meeting at the Museo Novecento for the elderly with Alzheimer’s and cognitive impairment with related caregivers. The Museo Novecento, with its permanent collection, offers a rich selection of works close to the biographical path of the elderly, who see the twentieth century as “their” century. On the occasion of the Alzheimer Fest 2022, the exploration of some significant works will be proposed that will be able to give life to an original collective story arising from the emotions and imagination that art can admirably awaken.
On Saturday 10th September at 10 am we move to Palazzo Vecchio, the beating heart of city life for centuries, with its richly frescoed rooms, witnesses of the greatness of Florentine history. The activity that will invite the elderly participants (maximum 16 including caregivers) to immerse themselves in the splendor of the Medici court by exploring one of the monumental rooms and allowing you to imagine or rewrite, with a little imagination, one of the many is entitled Stories that the Palace holds.
Also on Saturday 10 at 3 pm, appointment at the Stefano Bardini Museum with Materia Viva, a visit during which the participants will be invited to discover this special museum and then explore a work together: the matter of art will relive thanks to a shared narration that will be born from their observations and experiences.
Finally, on Sunday 10 at 11 am, festival participants with their companions will be invited to take part in the activity Fantastic Voices curated by Benedetta Manfriani, at the MAD Murate Art District. A meeting that will allow participants to get to know the artist Benedetta Manfriani and to experiment with her to give life – in a playful way – to a shared art moment, where sound and movement will be the protagonists.
