The Museo Novecento in Florence presents STIMMUNG. Through the Works in the Collection, curated by Sergio Risaliti. The project offers a fresh perspective on the City of Florence’s twentieth-century art collections through an exhibition that brings paintings and sculptures into dialogue on the basis of the atmospheres they evoke and the resonances they establish with one another and with the viewer.
Moving beyond traditional stylistic, chronological and iconographic classifications, the exhibition invites visitors to experience a different way of engaging with the artworks, one in which perception, sensitivity and individual experience become integral to the visit.
The reinstallation is accompanied by Six Voices Mean That We Are Harmony, a sound intervention by Mattia Barro Splendore that extends the exploration of the concept of Stimmung to the relationship between sound, space and listening.
STIMMUNG seeks to encourage visitors to slow down and spend more time engaging with each individual work. Through a more open and uncluttered arrangement, the exhibition proposes a different pace of viewing, inviting visitors to take their time with the artworks, with art itself, and with themselves.
On Friday, 6 November, at 6:30 pm, as part of the exhibition preview, the Giardino delle Leopoldine will host an original six-voice performance conceived by Mattia Barro Splendore, inspired by Stimmung by Karlheinz Stockhausen and performed by singers from the Accademia del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino. The performance will last approximately 20 minutes.
