Fortini painter and engraver: passage of an itinerary between art and literature
in collaboration with the region of Tuscany and the Archive of Fortini of the university of Siena.
In opportunity of the 20th anniversary of the death of Franco Fortini (Florence 1917 – Milan 1994) Enrico Crispolti e Marcello Ciccuto show up the less known aspects of the activities of one of the most intellectual artists of the second half of the 20th century. Fortini dedicated hisself to the painting and drawing since he was a young boy, but he was uncertain until the university, if studying art or literature. He graduated with a thesis about Rosso Fiorentino and his relator was Mario Salmi. He also wrote essays full of references about the figurative art which represents a constant inspiration in his life and work. During the conference we will expose three paintings of the Archive Fortini of the University of Siena.
This initiative is part of a wide program of appointments dedicated to Fortini.
Franco Fortini chose the title “Memories for after tomorrow” for a short collection of his writings published in Siena in 1984. After 30 years of its invention and the 20th anniversary of the death of Fortini. this title become the name of numerous cultural initiatives meant to examine his artworks under different aspects more and less known.
