On the occasion of the International Holocaust Memorial Day<\/strong>, the external loggia of the Museo Novecento hosts the installation Chinese Whispers<\/em><\/strong>, a collaboration between the artists Simona Andrioletti<\/strong> and Riccardo Rudi<\/strong>. The work stems from a reflection on Giuseppe Ungaretti’s poem Girovago<\/em> and reflects on the human condition of nomadic beings.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The Chinese Whispers<\/em><\/strong> installation, is a result of a collaboration between the artists Simona Andrioletti <\/strong>(Bergamo, 1990) and Riccardo Rudi<\/strong> (Ponte dell\u2019Olio, 1989), was born from a reflection on the Girovago<\/em> poem by Giuseppe Ungaretti. The project, curated by Stefania Rispoli<\/strong> and Eva Francioli<\/strong> and hosted in the external loggia of the Museo Novecento on the occasion of the Memorial Day from 23 to 27 January 2020, questions the human condition of nomadic beings.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Nine people of different nationalities (Italian, English, Chinese, Hindi, Spanish, Arab, French, German and Hebrew) who have left their country of origin recite the lines of the poem in their native language. From their meeting an audio track is born that resonates within the Renaissance architecture of the loggia, a chorus of voices that expand and overlap until they are lost in each other like instruments in an orchestra.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The installation also consists of nine banners that carry the verse I am looking for an innocent country<\/em><\/strong> translated into several languages: a message to be circulated from mouth to mouth, from ear to ear, in a sort of wireless telephone (Chinese Whispers is precisely the ‘expression used in the English language to indicate “wireless telephone”).<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Simona Andrioletti<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(Bergamo, 1990) lives and works in Munich. After studying at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts with Gianni Caravaggio, at the \u00c9cole Nationale Sup\u00e9rieure des Beaux Arts in Lyon, he completed his training at the Akademie der Bildenden K\u00fcnste in Munich with Gregor Schneider and Olaf Nicolai. Simona Andrioletti’s work focuses on the dynamics of collaboration, challenging the idea of \u200b\u200bartistic authorship and letting other people interfere with the process of creating her works. He has exhibited at the Kunstverein M\u00fcnchen eV (Quality Time, curated by Matthew Post and Chris Fitzpatrick), Stiftung Federkiel (Chinese Whispers, curated by Alina Eisner and Karsten Schmitz), Nir Altman Galerie (I shot Mercury to make this exhibition, curated by Claudia Contu), Halle6 (Exist, curated by Maria Justus and Torsten M\u00fchlbach) in Munich. Al R\u00e9fectoire des Nonnes (Meeting, curated by Bernhard R\u00fcdiger and Gianni Caravaggio), Palais Bondy (Fomosapiens, curated by Hotel Triky) in Lyon. In Via Farini, Milan (The intimacy of the image as a place in common, curated by Gianni Caravaggio), at the Waterworks Falkenstein (Delta15, curated by Josephine Pasura, Lara Loeser, Pauline Von Katte) in Hamburg. In 2019 he participated in TheBlank residency program in Bergamo and at Residenza Lac or Le Mon. She was selected among the finalists of the Talent Prize in 2016, 2017 and 2019 and has participated in the related exhibitions at the Macro and the Slaughterhouse in Rome.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Riccardo Rudi<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(Ponte dell\u2019Olio, 1989) lives and works between Milan and Munich. He studied Communication Design at the Politecnico di Milano (2011), obtained a Master in Design for Contemporary Art at the Eesti Kunstiakadeemia in Tallinn (2014), a master’s degree in Design for Publishing at the Istituto Superiore per le Industrie Artistiche of Urbino (2015) and then continued his studies at the Akademie der Bildenden K\u00fcnste in Munich studying in the class of Olaf Nicolai. His artistic practice is a constant dialogue between different dimensions. His works range from film and sound production to editorial up to purely digital projects such as websites, videogames and interventions on social networks. He has exhibited at Galerie der K\u00fcnstler BBK (A Tree Is Best Measured When It Is Down, curated by Anja L\u00fcckenkemper and Julia Maier), Stiftung Federkiel (Chinese Whispers, curated by Alina Eisner and Karsten Schmitz), Metropol Kunstraum (If your phone doesn’t ring, it’s me, curated by Markus Michalke) and Halle6 (Exist, curated by Maria Justus and Torsten M\u00fchlbach) of Munich. At the Palazzo Ducale in Urbania (Sedimenta curated by Luigi Pieracini), Kanuti Gildi Saal (Poster + Performance curated by Tanel Rander), Pecci Museum Milan (BYOB By Rafa\u00ebl Rozendaal curated by Domenico Quaranta). He participated in the Longega Project artistic residency in 2017 and at the Lac or Le Mon Residence in 2019. In addition to the artistic practice he follows a research activity with the Athanor group (of which he is co-founder) and directing activity with the Bendo collective.
