Inauguration of the sound installation and talk with guided listening in the presence of the artists
“A Sonic Map of Alexandria” is part of the “Alexandria Streets Project“, an experience-based audio and sound mapping art project that investigates the relationships between people and spaces in the city of Alexandria in Egypt. The project came to life on the streets of the city almost two years after the 2011 revolution, during the presidency of Mohamed Morsi. The work today lives as an archive of stories, voices, music and sounds of the city in the autumn and winter of 2012, and can be considered an example of writing of Egyptian social, political and cultural history in a moment of transition.
