Free entry to the museum for women

March 8 at the Museo Novecento is a multi-faceted day. And if on the one hand a series of appointments dedicated to Women’s Day come to life, on the other the photographic exhibition Memory has a future of peace will be presented to the public organized in collaboration with Aned (National Association of former deportees to Nazi camps) on the occasion of the 10th year of the brotherhood pact with Mauthausen.

To celebrate Women’s Day, the museum offers, in addition to free admission for all ladies, a program of initiatives related to the theme of women.

Starting at 5 pm, under the external loggia, it will also be possible to view the photographic exhibition “Memory has a future of peace” organized by the Museo Novecento in collaboration with Aned on the occasion of the 76th anniversary of the deportation to the Nazi concentration camps in hundreds of workers, employees, professionals and ordinary citizens, victims of indiscriminate round-ups in Florence and its surroundings after the wave of strikes that took place throughout Tuscany in 1943 and the 10th anniversary of the Brotherhood Pact between the municipalities of Florence and Mauthausen.

At 5.30 pm the Notes concert at the Museum of the Musica Antiqua group of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino will be scheduled, which will see the violinists Anna Noferini and Luigi Cozzolino, interpret the Sonata in F major RV 70 by Antonio Vivaldi, the Gulliver Suite by Georg Philipp Telemann and The Madness by Arcangelo Corelli.

At 6 pm Cristiana Palandri, Pietro Dossena and Sahba K. Amiri will present the performance A Fragmented Deity, inspired by Molly Bloom, “fragmented divinity” from the last chapter of James Joyce’s Ulysses. The protagonist of A Fragmented Deity relates to the words she pronounces as if they were external to her, segmenting and censoring them through physical interaction with the controls of a cassette recorder. The magnetic tape holds the most intimate dimension of the performance: the rich sound world of the Feminine, considered in its a-verbal and pre-cultural dimension.

Finally, at 7 pm the students of the cultural association La Stanza dell’attore, under the guidance of director Giovanni Micoli, will propose the reading “Poetry, your name is female” of passages chosen from the texts of some of the greatest poets in history.
