The artist meets Marco Tonelli
In collaboration with the review Materia Prima
Loris Cecchini is an artist with an unquenchable desire for research and experimentation, that gives special attention to innovative material, in particular plastic and metallic matter, and to the processes of growth, accumulation, crystallization afferent to said materials. His research, however, is not limited to the formalization of an inorganic, chemical or molecular process, but moves to an aesthetic elaboration as metaphor of social, architectonic, housing, structural, organic conditions.
The meeting on Loris Cecchini’s work and language, led by the art critic Marco Tonelli, moves from the meaning of his artistic poetics to his last projects, such as the realization for the review Materia Prima of a site specific work in ceramics (a practically new material to Cecchini), that will be permanently placed in the city of Montelupo Fiorentino and that has the ambition of innovating and improving an ancient, though technologically renewable, technique, such as that of terracotta.
