In collaboration with Fondazione Centro Studi Sull’Arte Licia and Carlo Ludovico Ragghianti
After having been head of the Tuscan National Liberation Committee and having participated in the liberation of Florence in August 1944, Carlo Ludovico Ragghianti (1910-1987) was among those who had to face the flood that again endangered the artistic heritage of the city. This tragic event occurred when Ragghianti was promoting an exhibition dedicated to Italian art of the twenties and thirties that should have served as a driving force for the opening of a museum dedicated to the twentieth century in Florence. The conference will focus on the role of Ragghianti, in the more general analysis of his position as an art historian with respect to twentieth-century art.
Emanuele Pellegrini he is professor of art history at IMT Scuola di Alti Studi, Lucca. His publications focus on art literature and the history of collecting between the eighteenth and twentieth centuries. Member of the scientific committee of the Ragghianti Foundation of Lucca, director of the magazine “Predella”, founder and member of the editorial staff of the site www.patrimonisos.it.
