Examining with an innovative slant the multiple facets of Gio Ponti’s career, the volume offers a new and synthetic vision of this great artist of the twentieth century who was, at the same time, an architect, an interior designer, a columnist and essayist, an editor, a director and founder of magazines. Reviewing all of Ponti’s activities, the book offers an overlook on the vast work of the artist taking into account his global approach and using a deliberately “light” tone. The volume, therefore, does not focus on specific aspects of Ponti’s activity, but shares a reflection on the multi-disciplinary approach the artist followed in his life, as underlined by Cesare de Seta in his preface. Following the significant statements of Alessandro Mendini, the book aims at testifying how Ponti was indisputably a great artist and one of the fathers of the architecture of the twentieth century.
