MORE MUSEUM. The future of museums between crisis and rebirth, changes and new scenarios

A online conference, the first of its kind in Italy after the outbreak of the pandemic, for a 360-degree reflection on the present and especially on the future of italian museums, from months in deep suffering because of repeated closures.

Next Thursday, January 14, a online conference organised by the Department of Culture of the City of Florence together with MUS.E and Museo Novecento, with the title “More Museum: the future of museums between crisis and rebirt, changes and new scenarios”, scheduled from 9.30a.m to 7.00p.m.

The conference, that will be visible at the following link https://vimeo.com/event/596508/embed will open with an intervention of the Minister of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism Dario Franceschini, which will be followed by one of Florence’s Major, Dario Nardella.

To the General Director of Italian Museums, Massimo Osanna, the task of introducing the main themes on which the conference will focus, followed by other interventions divided into 12 panels of 30 minutes each.

Florence proves to be the right place for an extended discussion on the past, present and future of museums. Right in Florence in 1789 by the will of the Grand Duke Pietro Leopoldo di Lorena the Uffizi Gallery was opened to the public, one of the first museums in the world thought and managed in a modern sense. Then one cannot transcend from the most enlightened principles that gave rise to museums and those relating the most modern institusions: preserve memory of the past, promote research and updating, spread love for art, support the creative talent, in a comparaison always opened and vital with contemporary and different cultures of the world.
