On the occasion of the 56th edition of the Festival dei Popoli – International Documentary Film Festival, Florence 27 November – 4 December 2015.

Where is Italy going?  From this question begins the journey of Ernesto Galli della Loggia, accompanied by director Manfredi Lucibello. A journey into the past of our country, strong of the desire to find a suggestion for a different future.

Manfredi Lucibello (Florence 1984), graduated from DAMS at the University of Bologna, with a thesis in filmology on Samuel Fuller, graduated from the biennial master Officinema-La bottega dei mestieri organized by the Cineteca di Bologna, directed by Giuseppe Bertolucci, with specialization in film editing. In 2010 he wrote and directed Storia di Nessuno, a short film produced by Kaleidoscope Factory and Retrobottega in co-production with Filmpro, with the contribution of the Cineteca di Bologna and the Genova-Liguria Film Commission. The film, which has participated in more than 20 festivals around the world, was the only Italian present at the Los Angeles Film Festival and the European Independent Film Festival in Paris, and was chosen to represent Italy at the Biennale dei Giovani Artisti del Mediterraneo in 2011. He has won eight international awards including the Prix Curts du Polar 2011, prize for best short film at the International Noir Festival in Lyon. In 2011, he also won the twentieth edition of the Iceberg Award, a historic award organized by the City of Bologna to enhance creative talents. In 2013 he won the Young Italian Filmmaker Prize, organized by the Italian Institute of Culture in New York and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Il Paese perduto is his second feature film, after Centoquaranta-La strage dimenticata, produced by Pulsemedia and winner of the Fondo Cinema della Regione Toscana.
