7. Alberto Magnelli
The Magnelli Legacy contains fifteen paintings completed between 1914 and 1968. The works, exhibited in rotation, were purposely selected by the artist to illustrate his entire artistic career. Magnelli donated it to his native city, where he had studied, frequenting the avant-garde environments linked to “Lacerba” and “La Voce” reviews. The nucleus presented here begins with his more mature works, in which abstractism is translated into compositions of great formal balance. It is followed by metaphysical and surrealist suggestions, coming to works of the second and third decade, linked with his studies as a self-taught artist.
